A Slave To Fashion??

New York Fashion Week shows is host to some of the best artist in the in the business. You often see the likes of Pat McGrath ,Tom Pechuex , Gucci Westman , and James Kaliardos, creating and designing an aray of makeup looks for numours amount of shows. These artist set the order for what is coming next in the world of Makeup.

As the A/W runways draw to a close, here are the makeup forecasts straight from NYFW.

Some of the prevalent themes to hit the runways included, the return of the 70s ,a dabble with grunge, and a romantic take on vampire and goth chic.

The most common trends included; as always fresh, flawless skin that matched the models skin tone perfectly. Whether this was a matted down version or had that healthy, dewy glow it was on every runway from Carolina Herrera to Michael Kors.

Extremely blended contour was also paired with the flawless skin, along with some strobbing to add dimension and depth to the face.

The next trend to dominate the runways of NYFW was the power brow . Naturally defined brows firmly held its pinnacle position in the world of makeup. Great brows was the feature on nearly every runway from Racheal Zoe to Rag and Bone.

Following on from the brows, and as can be seen in the above image of the model for Rachael Zoe , the statement lip was a massive trend to hit the A/W Runways. Minimal makeup used; just flawless skin, good natural brows , which left all the focus on the lips. The most common colours were Sienna seen on VB runways, Crimsons seen on Creature of Wind and Marcel Ostertage, , Berry Stained on Rachael Zoe , Pink tones seen on Tommy Hilfiger and Jeremy Scott. A Dark lip was paired with a romantic feel on Rodarte and for a gothic, chic look on Fenty X Puma by Rihannan .

The statement lip was also prominent on the Paris Couture S/S Runway with dark colours being replace with Candy Reds on the likes of Dior’s runway.

Next up an coming trend to watch out for is the cut crease eye. Models such as Gigi Hadid, Kendal Jenner and Irina Shayk sported a smoky version of this look on the DVF runway. The Jeremy Scott runway saw Karlie Kloss and her fellow models wearing a aqua blue graphic cut crease.

This cut crease trend was again see on Couture S/S runways of Giorgio Armani Prive designed by the one and only Val Garland.

A more wearable version of this look was designed by one of my all time favourite artist, Pat McGrath, for the A/ W Tommy Hilfiger show. Pat applied a dark colour in the crease and smoked it out , she then applied gold glitter to the lid, which tied in with a dewy, pretty, feel of the makeup. You can see a close up of the makeup from a screen shot from Hailey Baldwin’ snap chat.

The black smokey eye is the apex of the makeup world at the moment. It was seen on Gigi Hadid on Paris Couture S/S Atelier Versace runway and on Brandon Maxwell’s NWFY A/W collection. A warm toned brown version was also seen on the likes of Rag and Bone and Alexander Wang 70s meets grunge show.

Celebrities have also been wearing this look for award shows. Softer versions of this look have seen on, Selena Gomez and Bella Hadid at The Grammy’s. While Alessandra Amborsio went for a heavier style adding a little colour pop. This look has been themed with a neutral lip that allows the eyes to be the focal point.

All in all though makeup is an art and as such there is no right or wrong way to wear it. This post just highlights the makeup for the A/W season. So if you want to stay ahead of the makeup trend then these are the tips to follow. Fashion looks can be extremely hard to wear but you can adapted them anyway you please. Use them all or focus on one or two, but at least you know what lipstick colours to add to your collection haha.

Watch out for the next post about what trends have just hit the world of hair.
